Answers to Spiritual Gems January 30-February 6
Hello brothers and sisters
Welcome to the midweek meeting from January 31th to February 6.
In this video, We will consider well-prepared comments for the Spiritual Gems section for this week.
For this week, the Bible Reading is in Ruth chapter 3 and 4.
Let's read together Ruth 4:6.
Says: To this the repurchaser said: “I am unable to repurchase it, for I may ruin my own inheritance. Repurchase it for yourself with my right of repurchase, because I am not able to repurchase it.”
The question to answer is: In what way could a repurchaser “ruin” his own inheritance by doing the repurchasing?
Answer: Well there were factors involved, for example, if the person who had fallen into destitution had sold his inheritance of land, the repurchaser had to purchase the land at a price stipulated according to the number of years remaining until the Jubilee, which would reduce the value of his own estate. Furthermore, in Ruth's case, if a son was born to her, it would be he who would inherit the field, not the repurchaser's close relatives.
Now let’s go to the last question:What spiritual gems from this week’s Bible reading would you like to share regarding Jehovah, the field ministry, or something else?
Ruth 3:1. Naomi on several occasions stated that she wanted the best for her daughters-in-law. Ruth accompanied her and took care of her, and Naomi always kept her in mind and gave her good advice. This teaches us that Jehovah, through his people and our family, always gives us people who care about us and give us good advice based on the Bible so that we do not lack anything.
Ruth 3:2. The Law that Jehovah gave to Israel included some loving provisions for families that were going through difficulties because they were poor or had lost a loved one, if the widow had never had children the Law of God allowed the brother-in-law to marry the widow so that she would give birth to a son who would perpetuate the name of the deceased and inherit the family's property, today the people of jehovah also have loving provisions to guarantee help to those Christians who need it.
Ruth 3:1-5. Naomi advises Ruth what she needs to do to approach Boaz and tell him that he is a Rebuker. Perhaps she is surprised by this request from her mother-in-law, but because she respects her so much, she listens carefully to everything she tells her and agrees to her advice. This teaches us: that loving advice from older siblings can be very helpful. It also reminds the young people that they should avoid thinking that the elders are not capable of understanding the challenges and problems faced by the youth, but rather, they should listen carefully, especially if this advice is accompanied by the loving wisdom of Jehovah.
Ruth 3:5. Ruth always did what Naomi asked of her. She always did good things for others, she was humble to do many of these things. It is an example to imitate, to do good things for others and to build a good reputation as Ruth did, which pleased the eyes of Jehovah immensely.
Ruth 3:10. Ruth's loyal love led him to do many good things for which she was recognized as an excellent woman and as this verse says. "May Jehovah bless you." Ruth received many blessings for her loyal love, just as we will from God if we imitate this love for our brothers.
Ruth 3:11. Ruth must be extremely pleased that Boaz has said that everyone regards her as "a woman in that she has such a good reputation is her longing to know the LORD and to serve him. Moreover, she has shown great kindness and sensitivity to Naomi and her people, for she has been willing to adapt to a culture and customs of which she was probably unfamiliar. If we imitate Ruth's faith, we will strive to treat others, as well as their culture and customs, with deep respect. And if we do so, we may also build an excellent reputation.
Ruth 3:12. Boaz scrupulously followed Jehovah's law. Do we follow theocratic procedures with the same seriousness? Perhaps this means that we should consult the opinion or authorization of other brethren, instead of acting without asking permission and this would be a great disrespect to Jehovah and the congregation, we certainly want to avoid such a course of action which is neither loving nor exemplary, we saw a video of this point in the 2015 regional assembly.
Ruth 3:13-15. Boaz asks Ruth to go back to bed and rest until dawn approaches; then she can leave without being seen, his intention is to protect her reputation and also his own, because someone might mistakenly think that they have committed some immoral act, likewise Christians should be sure to take care of their conduct so that no misinterpretations or misunderstandings arise, this is important because this will mainly protect our reputation.
Ruth 3:18. In the example of Naomi and Ruth about waiting to see how this matter ends, we can learn to always trust in every disposition we receive, especially those that come from God's earthly organization and respect the theocratic authority, although it is true that we cannot fully understand them, what we must always keep in mind is that everything we receive comes from Jehovah and it is for our benefit.
Ruth 4:1,3,4. Boaz demonstrates that he is a just man, upright and obedient to the commandments of Jehovah in every aspect of his life. He goes to the gate of the city and waits for the man who is most closely related to Elimelech's family and gives him the opportunity to buy him back. This teaches me: that in this selfish world where people try to hide the truth to achieve their goals, regardless of displeasing God or harming their neighbors, Christians should act differently and strive to be just, righteous and obedient to Jehovah's standards and laws in every aspect of life just as Boaz did.
Ruth 4:1-6. We see that before buying back Ruth, Boaz followed all the indications of Jehovah in this regard, this teaches us to always follow all the guidelines that Jehovah's organization gives us regarding any matter, since as servants of God we must always do things in an orderly manner.
Ruth 4:1-10. We see that Boaz is someone of quick action, he meets with the elders of the city and with the other repurchaser, when he sees that he does not want to take Ruth Boaz declares that he will be the repurchaser, thus demonstrating that he is an upright and unselfish man, in the same way, Christians can learn from Boaz by not waiting for the things we want to happen by themselves, rather, we take quick action and we are willing to do everything in our power to accomplish what we have proposed.
Ruth 4:3-6. Boaz told a relative that it was up to him to buy back Elimelech's land, the man at first "hurries to make a decision and accepts", but then he learns that he must also marry Ruth, so he refuses to do so, claiming that it would ruin his own inheritance. This teaches me: that we should not rush into making an important decision, rather, the Bible encourages us to take time to think calmly and know all the details involved. In making decisions let us show that we are not thoughtless or indecisive people, but that we are steadfast in all that we say and do.
Ruth 4:4. Before Boaz wanted to repurchase and take Ruth as his wife, he spoke with the repurchaser who thought he had the right to do so before him and with some elders to be witnesses. This teaches us that we have to do our business in life in the right way, Jehovah is our witness in our decisions, and these must always be according to the Bible, since it is to Him that we will be accountable.
Ruth 4:6. The closest repurchaser renounces his right of repurchase, the reason he gives has a selfish motive, he said it was because it would ruin his own inheritance. He unwittingly rejects "the opportunity or privilege of being a direct ancestor of Jesus". This teaches me that Christians should not turn down privileges or opportunities to do more in service to Jehovah just because we think that doing so would ruin our lives. It behooves us to meditate on our own reasons why we reject privileges, but it is certain that those who serve Jehovah with a full heart will receive eternal blessings.
